Behind the scenes with Katrina

Updated: Feb 26

So, we know a bit more about the rest of the team, but what don’t we know about our wonder of words colleague, Katrina? Let’s have a look and see what is behind that dog-loving northern girl…

What is the most annoying question that people ask you?

What happened to your Geordie accent?... Well, that’s a good question, being born in the North East, how on earth could someone lose and accent which is so strong. Trust me, I had no idea either. But having lived in numerous parts of the UK, I have picked up a few accents along the way. I tend to adapt to the accents of those around me, so although I may now sound a bit more welsh, I would say I’m probably a combination of both.

Halloween or Valentine’s Day?

I have to say I do love Halloween, I’m not a fan of all the lovey dovey Valentine’s day nonsense. Why choose one day a year to confess your love for someone, just say it every day instead it’s easier and a lot cheaper! Halloween is not just one day in my eyes, it’s a combination of being both scary and fun, you can decorate, play games and even dress up if you want too. It’s a good excuse to scare the living daylights out of someone if you really want too.

Do you prefer windows or mac?

OOOO this is a tough one and it has taken me a while to come up with an answer. Honestly, it took me about 2 years to move to the ‘dark side’ of having a Macbook, I just wasn’t convinced that anything could ever beat Windows and that it was just all about the money. But boy was I wrong, now I have a Macbook, I have to say I don’t think I could cope with using a Windows laptop full time. However, Apple hasn't not won me over completely as I still happily use an android phone. So, I’m not quite ready to leave the world of Windows behind just yet.

How could anyone even consider using windows in this day and age surely, it’s got to be Mac all the way!

How old is the oldest pair of shoes in your wardrobe?

Ok, so I’m not really a shoe person. I can walk in and out of a shoe shop without purchasing anything… shock horror I know. To be honest, I hate shopping, clothes shopping, shoes shopping, it’s just not me. So, when I do buy shoes they tend to be ones I know will last me a long time because I don’t really want to be shopping for shoes again. But having said that, I do have a back log of heels that I just worse once and were so crippling I just couldn’t wear them again. I have a beautiful pair of heels that are about 10 years old, but I paid so much for them I just can’t bear to part with them.

I’m sure all the women reading this have that same pair!

What’s your favourite breakfast cereal?

Ok so, it’s a toss-up between coco pops and crunchy nut cornflakes. I do love both but I suppose if I really had to choose it would probably be coco pops because I honestly think the chocolate lover inside would kill me if I said otherwise and didn’t go for the chocolate option!

I think it’s safe to say we have a couple of chocoholics at Ouma!

If you were going to learn a language, which language would it be?

I would probably say Welsh, I mean, why not I live in Wales now and I find it so interesting. I don’t think I would do too well trying to learn it though, I really can’t pronounce anything right in Welsh!

It’s a tricky one but we do still have a couple of welsh speakers on the team so we will let her off for not being able to speak Welsh, it is super tough!
